Frequently Asked Questions
What are peptides in skincare?
Peptides are short amino-acid chains incorporated into cosmetic formulas. Different peptides have different properties, and the finished formula—not the word “peptide” alone—determines suitability and performance.
Do peptide serums build collagen?
Some peptides have been studied in collagen-related pathways, but evidence and skin delivery vary. It is more accurate to say that a particular product may support smoother or firmer-looking skin when that benefit is substantiated.
Are peptides the same as Botox?
No. Topical peptide cosmetics are not injectable botulinum toxin and should not be described as a replacement for it. They do not produce the same mechanism or predictable clinical effect.
Can I use peptides with retinol?
Often yes. A peptide moisturiser can be a comfortable partner to a retinoid routine, but check both formulas and introduce retinol gradually. Product-specific directions take priority.
Can I use peptides with vitamin C?
Many contemporary formulas can be used together. Stability is product-specific, so there is no useful universal rule that all peptides and all vitamin C products conflict.
Are copper peptides better than other peptides?
Not automatically. Copper peptides are one category with their own formulation considerations. Choose according to the finished product’s evidence, suitability and directions rather than assuming one peptide family is universally superior.
How long does peptide skincare take to work?
Hydration or conditioning may be noticed sooner than changes in the look, texture, or firmness. Assess a product you can tolerate over the period recommended by its maker, and photograph progress under consistent lighting.
