Choosing a makeup remover

A dedicated eye makeup remover is designed for use around the eye area, as indicated on the label. Use a pre-cleansing oil across the face to loosen makeup, sunscreen, and surface residue before the next cleansing step. A reusable mitt removes residue with water or the specified cleanser, but it must be washed and dried properly between uses.

For long-wear or water-resistant makeup, hold the suitable remover against the area briefly before wiping gently. Repeated rubbing can irritate the skin and the delicate eye area. Never use a face product around the eyes unless the directions explicitly allow it, and stop using any cosmetic that causes irritation.

What double cleansing means

Double cleansing uses a first product to remove makeup, sunscreen and oil-soluble residue, followed by a second cleanser suited to the skin. It can be useful after heavy makeup or water-resistant sunscreen, but it is not required for everyone or every evening. The goal is effective removal without leaving the skin feeling stripped.

Wash reusable mitts as directed and allow them to dry fully. Keep hands and applicators clean. Do not share eye cosmetics or tools, and replace products according to their period-after-opening symbol or use-by information.
