Frequently Asked Questions
Which Environ AVST moisturiser should I start with?
Most people who are new to Environ or topical vitamin A should begin with AVST Moisturiser 1. It contains the introductory concentration of vitamin A in Environ’s Vitamin STEP-UP SYSTEM™ and allows the skin to gradually become accustomed to the ingredient. If your skin is particularly reactive or you prefer a lighter texture, AVST Gel may be a more suitable starting point. Contact our skincare team if you are unsure.
Can I begin with AVST 2 or 3?
AVST 2 and 3 are generally intended for skin that has already become comfortable with the preceding AVST level. Even if you have used retinol from another brand, its formulation and strength may differ, so this does not necessarily mean you should start at a higher AVST level. We normally recommend beginning with AVST 1 unless an Environ skincare professional advises otherwise.
How long should I use each AVST level?
Environ recommends using at least two to three bottles at each level and only progressing when your skin is completely comfortable. There is no need to move up quickly, and some people may benefit from remaining at a particular level for longer. If you experience persistent sensitivity, stay at your current level or seek advice before progressing.
What is the difference between AVST 1 and AVST 5?
Both contain vitamin A, vitamin C and antioxidants, but AVST 1 is the introductory level, with the lowest concentration of vitamin A in the moisturiser sequence. AVST 5 is the final and highest level, intended for skin that has progressed through the complete step-up system and is comfortable with higher concentrations of vitamin A and other active ingredients. AVST 5 is not simply a richer moisturiser for drier or more mature skin—it is an advanced step that should be reached gradually.
Can AVST be used around the eyes?
AVST Moisturiser may be applied to the face and neck, but take care around the delicate eye area and avoid getting it into the eyes. If you are sensitive, keep it away from the eyelids and immediate eye contour. For targeted care, Environ’s Antioxidant & Peptide Eye Gel is specially formulated for use around the delicate eye area.
Should I use sunscreen with Environ AVST?
Yes. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning, regardless of the weather or season. Daily sun protection helps protect the skin from UVA and UVB exposure and is an essential part of any routine designed to improve the visible effects of ageing, uneven tone or sun damage. Apply sunscreen after AVST and reapply as required during prolonged exposure.
What should I do if my skin becomes sensitive?
If you experience dryness, redness or discomfort, reduce how frequently you apply AVST and temporarily simplify your routine by pausing exfoliating acids, scrubs, retinol serums and other strong active products. Do not move to the next AVST level until your skin is completely comfortable. If sensitivity persists, stop using the product and contact our skincare team for personalised advice.
